ROBERT H. 'BOB' DOWNING
June 6, 1939 - May 26, 2009
Bob passed away peacefully at his home in Port Angeles on May 26, 2009, at the age of 69, due to respiratory failure.
He was born on June 6, 1939, to Marian (Fredricksen) Richards and Harry Richards, but was later adopted by Keith Elsworth Downing.
Bob worked for years at the Lower Elwha Dam as a hydroelectric operator, and loved spending his free time in the outdoors, either hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, shooting or motorcycling.
He was an avid collector of vehicles, and he loved animals. He was a kind, intelligent man who cherished his solitude as much as he enjoyed the company of his family.
Robert is survived by his beloved mother, Marian, his daughter Merri (Downing) Frisbie; his son, Robert Downing and his wife; and grandchildren Zackary, Jonathan, Allison and Benjamin.
"The last true mountain man has just left the forest."
