In Memory

Carly (Vicki) Lundgren (Gagnon)

Former Port Angeles resident Vicki (Lundgren) Henke passed away on March 16, 2013, at the age of 73 from pneumonia.

She was born in Port Angeles to Carl and Marge Lundgren. She lived most of her life in Port Angeles until her move to Clallam Bay a few years ago.

As a teenager, she worked at her family's rollerskating rink in downtown Port Angeles and as a lifeguard at the old Olympic Hot Springs Resort. She graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1957.

In September 1957, she married Fred Henke, which ended in divorce in 1983. The couple had three children, Kris, Kevin and Kim.

She worked at her parents' store, the Busy Bee Market, until 1970. She worked at Peninsula Daily News, Wenner and Davis Insurance Agency, Olympic Medical Physical Therapy and Peninsula Mental Health.

Vicki enjoyed rock hunting, beachcombing, reading and her malamutes. Most remember her for her baking, cooking, artistic talent and sense of humor. She was a very loving person and accepted everyone for who they were.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Rose Owens; and her parents, Carl and Marge Lundgren, all Port Angeles pioneers.

She is survived by her sons, Kris (Janie) Henke and Kevin (Leta) Henke; daughter Kim (Steve) Romberg; a brother, Kris (Peg) Lundgren; grandchildren Laurel Henke, Jared Romberg and Kalah Romberg; and niece Kristy Lundgren.

Mom, we will always remember the days of agate hunting out at Agate Beach; doing the stomp to country music; you playing the autoharp, organ and accordion; you watching Sunday football; the boys selling your pocket fruit pies; your little parakeet, José; you and the grandmas going to bingo and Reno; your hair in rollers; your distaste of shopping; and your laugh.

At her request, no service will be held. Memorials can be made to the charity of one's choice .
