Duane spent four years in the US Marines. After boot camp he went to various assignments, as all Marines do, and finally settled in as an Embassy Marine assigned to the US Embassy in Ceylon. (now known as Sri Lanka)
Duane married a Ceylonese girl and emigrated to Australia. He and his wife had two daughters.
He worked as a Geologist, scouting for oil deposits.
Duane is buried in his adopted country, Australia.
Duane was a very good Marine, a very good man and a very good husband and father. I wish all of you could have known Duane as the man he became in adulthood.
