Gloria Norma Slater (Johnson)
March 12, 1937 - Sept. 14, 2006

Gloria Norma Slater, a lifelong Port Angeles resident, died of a heart attack. She was 69.

She was born to Norman Francis and Mabel Rose (Lynch) Johnson in Port Angeles.

She married Don Thorsen in Port Angeles on Sept. 18, 1958; he died June 26, 1972.

She married Paul Slater in Port Hadlock on Nov. 17, 1973; he died July 13, 1992.

Mrs. Slater enjoyed walking for fitness as well as to reach destinations.

Shopping trips to Silverdale and playing bingo were also among her interests.

Survivors include son Todd Thorsen, daughter Pam Thorsen and companion Kevin Dawson, daughters and sons-in-law Lori and Cory Swanson, Mary and Eric C. Richardson and Verna and Bobby Yahn, all of Port Angeles; brother Jim Johnson and sister and brother-in-law Pearl and Bill Stollar, all of Sequim; sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and Bernard Anselmo of Port Angeles and Linda and Mike Thatcher of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son Shawn Nels Thorsen and brother Gary Francis Johnson.
