Nancy Phifer (Tikka)

Nancy Beth Tikka of Aberdeen passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2013, at the age of 73.

Nancy was born May 23, 1939, in Port Angeles to parents, Claude and Helene Phifer.

She attended Queen of Angels School in Port Angeles; graduated from Port Angeles High School and attended Seattle University.

She married Neil E. Tikka on December 26, 1959. He survives her at the family home in Wishkah Valley.

She worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and in several banks in Seattle and Aberdeen, including the National Bank of Commerce. She also worked as a bookkeeper and played a very key role in several family businesses.

Nancy was extremely active in and a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Aberdeen and volunteered there in many capacities. She was a member of the Lilian Guild and P.E.O Charter.

Nancy adored her family and loved entertaining and hosting family gatherings and spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and loved preparing large meals for family and friends.

She will always be remembered for her enthusiasm for organizing parties.

She loved gardening and working in her yard and greenhouse.

Along with her husband of 53 years, she is survived by her sister, Carol Ann Nilson; four children, daughters, Cari E. Tikka and Leslie A. Tikka and sons, N. Craig Tikka and Doug S. Tikka; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Claudia Hilt; mother, Helene Phifer; and father, Claude Phifer.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen with a reception to follow at the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Feed the Hungry Program.
